RSV
RSV
Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) is a common and highly contagious virus that affects the respiratory tract, typically causing cold-like symptoms in healthy people. In young children, however, RSV can cause more severe symptoms and can even lead to lower respiratory tract infections such as bronchiolitis or pneumonia. Young infants, especially those born prematurely, are most at risk for RSV, as their immune systems are not fully developed. Symptoms of RSV in young children can include runny nose, fever, mild coughing, rapid breathing, increased irritability, and decreased appetite. It is important to contact your pediatrician if your child is experiencing any of these symptoms, as severe cases may require medical treatment. To help protect against RSV, washing hands frequently and avoiding contact with people who are sick is key.
